What is TED?
TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. TED Started in California in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, TED has grown to support those world-changing ideas with multiple initiatives. The annual TED Conferences invite the world’s leading thinkers and doers to speak about an idea worth sharing. Their talks are then made available for all at TED.com and YouTube.
TED speakers have included Bill Gates, Sir Richard Branson, Isabel Allende, Malcom Gladwell, Ngozi Okonjo- Iweala, Jane Goodall, Philippe Starck and Gordon Brown. TED’s media initiatives include TED.com, where new TEDTalks are posted daily, and the Open Translation Project, which provides subtitles and interactive transcripts as well as the ability for any TEDTalk to be translated by volunteers worldwide.

What is TEDx?
TEDx was created in the spirit of TED’s mission, “ideas worth spreading.” The program is designed to give communities, organizations and individuals the opportunity to create TED-like experiences at the local level through their own event. Since the program’s creation, more than 10,000 TEDx events have spread throughout the world in places like Dubai, Tokyo, Antarctica, and, of course, Ibadan.
At TEDx events, a screening of TEDTalks videos or a combination of live presenters and TEDTalks videos — sparks deep conversation and connections.
TEDx events are fully planned and coordinated independently, on a community-by-community basis.Visit ted.com/tedx for more information.
TEDxMokola is a one-day event, licensed by TED, with an audience of a hundred in Mokola, Ibadan, being curated by Taiwo Adeyemi .
Our goal is to bring together bright minds to give talks that are idea focused, and on a wide range of subjects, to foster learning, inspiration and wonder – and provoke discussions that matter.
Our theme for this year, “Throwback to the Future” will exemplify archaic trends in arts, fashion, technology, science, finance, education, music etcetera that are gaining fresh acceptance in the new world.
Attendees will include 100 young individuals and forward thinkers from difference works of life – male and female from the Ibadan community and beyond.
